Napa and Sonoma

The Best Western in Napa, CA never knew Pumpi enjoyed her stay. Obviously, they never knew there was a Pumpi. But, after J and D checked in, Pumpi checked in also, under cover of cat carrier and Johnnie's Goretex coat.

Delphine insisted to the night manager at the motel that there were two Napa Valley welcome signs, one in the north, another in the south. He graciously tried to make her see that wasn't true. Next day J and D found them both and photographed them.

Johnnie bought three bottles of wine at the Mondavi winery that day, then another bottle at St. Francis in Sonoma Valley the next day. Mondavi winery had a beautiful courtyard as shown in the photograph below.

The Best Western was nice but expensive. The Coxes moved across town the following two noghts to the Napa Valley Budget Inn. Pumpi stayed as a fully acknowledged guest, but Harvey almost got the boot.

The lady who checked in the Coxes tried to insist the RV stay on the street. Johnnie shook his head and said it was a deal breaker. Then the lady made them move out of a sport where Johnnie had back up far enough to reduce the footprint of Harvey to that of a large passenger van. The new spot was no better, but the woman seemed satisfied she had saved the day.

After two days and three nights it was time to head to San Francisco.
