Delphine was born in Hillsborough, NC. Later, she went to college in NC and NY and was doing OK until she married Johnnie. She worked for many years at IBM, she helped with the census in 2000, and she worked at Best Buy during the Christmas season of 2001. (She was hoping to get the best buy on our notebook computer, but they baited and switched on the employee purchase price until she bought it at Circuit City ... but maybe that's too much information.)
Johnnie grew up in Hillsborough, NC, but never met Delphine until after he joined the Navy. He didn't hit it off with her on their first date. Then they did hit it off. Then they were married and he became a programmer at IBM. He quit IBM three times, until they wouldn't take him back. Then he went to Nortel, was bought out by CSC, whom he quit to go on this trip. 
Johnnie and Delphine met in 1969. They were married in December, 1974 in South Carolina.
