In November of 2000, as CSC took over most of Nortel's switch ordering operation in RTP, NC, it was clear that the future of both companies was a little iffy. Shortly afterwards, Johnnie and Delphine, finally disgusted with decades of corporate toe-stubbing by many companies, started planning their escape to Florida.
In a house and job hunting trip to Melbourne, FL in February, 2001, they decided to make the move. Further, the transition between jobs and states would be puncuated by the vacation of a lifetime. While visiting the Florida Marlin's spring training stadium, the Coxes decided to tour the 23 parks (including the 2 in Florida) they had never seen.
